PalmSHIELD Stands Proudly in Los Angeles

A PalmSHIELD louvered fence installed for the City of Los Angeles's Department of Water and Power for their mechanical equipment systemsPalmSHIELD louvers is standing proudly in sunny Los Angeles. PalmSHIELD is proud to have been chosen by the City of Los Angeles Department of Water and Power as their mechanical equipment closure. The City of Los Angeles has a tight set of requirements for their mechanical equipment louvered systems. Louvered equipment enclosures must meet the 31 pounds per square foot of pressure test.

In addition, the mechanical screen system must be specialty fabricated to meet a unique set of site conditions. Each 6” x 6” square gate post had to have a special plate fabrication due to the limited wall space and loading requirements. PalmSHIELD’s in-house engineering considered the cone effect of both a vertically and horizontally placed pressure anchor or wedge. We wanted to assure that the cone effect of the anchors did not overlap one another. We also wanted to assure that each anchor was not so close to the edge of the concrete that it caused a sprawl effect.

Perfection in the Details

In review of the photos, you will note that the installation was a smash hit. The panel heights marry-up perfectly to the adjoining system. Every detail in this project is perfect. Please visit our website at to view our fencing options.
